Free-Range Chickens

On our small farm, we raise chickens, ducks, turkeys, and goats. Caring for them is woven into my daily rhythm and into how I practice nervous system regulation in real life.

This is where the work I teach through MissFit moves out of theory and into the body. Slowing down. Noticing patterns. Responding instead of reacting. Letting regulation be shaped through presence, consistency, and connection rather than force.

Animals move through the world with a natural rhythm. They follow cycles, respond honestly to their environment, and don’t override their signals. Being around that kind of presence has a grounding effect, especially in a culture that constantly pulls us toward urgency and disconnection.

The Dirty Birdies exists because healing isn’t something you schedule once a week and check off a list. It’s something you practice through the way you live, the way you nourish yourself, and the environments you spend time in. Because this farm is part of how I regulate and live the MissFit work, there are times when it naturally overlaps with Cellular Reiki Therapy (CRT) sessions when it’s appropriate and accessible. Regulation doesn’t happen in isolation. Environment matters. Safety matters. When conditions allow, the presence of the animals can support a deeper sense of grounding alongside the work we’re already doing.

This is farm therapy,
practiced daily.

Animals and the Nervous System

The nervous system is constantly taking in information from our environment, not just through thoughts or words, but through what we sense, observe, and experience every day.

Animals live almost entirely in this space. They respond in real time to their surroundings, resting when it’s safe, moving when it’s time, and adjusting naturally without suppressing their signals or pushing through stress for productivity’s sake. Their regulation is honest and rooted in natural rhythm.

When we spend time around animals, our nervous systems often begin to match their pace. Breathing slows, the body settles, and attention shifts out of the head and back into the body. This is why so many people feel calmer or more grounded around animals, even if they can’t fully explain why.

There’s no expectation to perform or manage anything. That simplicity creates a sense of safety, and safety is the foundation of nervous system regulation.

This is why animals play such a meaningful role in the MissFit work. They model regulation through presence, consistency, and natural cycles, helping the body remember how to settle without force.

Meet the Dirty Birdies

Every animal here has a presence, a personality, and a role in the ecosystem.

Together, they create a space that feels grounding, steady, and alive.

About Our Eggs

We raise both chickens and ducks on our farm, and while all fresh eggs are nutritious, there are a few differences worth knowing.

Chicken eggs are what most people are familiar with. Duck eggs are slightly larger, richer, and higher in fat and protein, which is why they’re especially loved for baking. They tend to create fluffier cakes, richer breads, and a more tender texture overall.

You’ll also notice our eggs are sold unwashed. That’s intentional.

Fresh eggs naturally have a thin protective layer called the bloom, which helps seal the shell and protect the egg. Washing removes that barrier, which is why store-bought eggs are washed and then refrigerated immediately. Because our eggs come straight from the farm and haven’t been commercially processed, we leave that natural protection intact.

Some eggs may look a little dirty, and that’s simply part of real farm life. A quick rinse right before use is all that’s needed. Just like everything at The Dirty Birdies, this approach reflects the MissFit philosophy. We work with natural systems rather than overriding them, keeping things simple, intentional, and honest.

This is Penny

Penny is a beautiful chocolate Muscovy duck and a constant reminder of what it looks like to move through life with calm confidence. She's the quiet center of the farm. Penny has a steady presence and is observant, gentle, and deeply regulated in a way you can feel the moment you’re around her.

Spending time with Penny is grounding. She doesn’t rush. She doesn’t force. She moves at her own pace, tuned into her environment and completely comfortable being exactly who she is. That energy sets the tone for the farm and reflects the same principles behind MissFit, where regulation, safety, and consistency matter more than pushing or performing. She's also the reason Penny Bars exist.

Penny Bars

Penny Bars are special treats made with Penny’s eggs and a whole lot of care. Duck eggs are richer and more nutrient-dense than chicken eggs, which makes them ideal for baking and gives Penny Bars their signature texture and flavor.

These aren’t mass-produced desserts or something you’ll find at the grocery. They’re made in small batches, using eggs that come straight from Penny, with intention behind every step.

Penny Bars are another expression of MissFit and The Dirty Birdies philosophy.

Simple ingredients. Thoughtful process. Nourishment that feels good to make and good to share.

You’ll find Penny Bars at The Dirty Birdies farm and select MissFit events, made with the same attention and integrity that guides everything else we do here.

The Dirty Birdies is one expression of the MissFit philosophy, lived out in real life.

MissFit is where I work with women more directly through nervous system education, Cellular Reiki Therapy (CRT), and personalized support. The Dirty Birdies is where those same principles are practiced daily through rhythm, presence, nourishment, and connection with living systems.

Same values.
Same work.
Different setting.

This is what MissFit has always been about. Not just sessions or treatments, but creating a life your body actually feels safe living in.
